Club History & League Information
The Blackstone Valley Spinners, originally known as the Bellingham Bruins were founded in January of 2022. They were first inducted into the CNEBA that spring (2022) and played its inaugural season that summer. The team was Co-Founded by President / General Manager, Marshall Quinley (Player Coach) and Assistant General Manager, J.P. Lucier (also Player Coach). In the off-season after the 2022 season, the team underwent a rebrand / relocation. It was annoucned in January of 2023 that the team was renamed to the Spinners.
The Blackstone Valley Spinners are a Semi-Professional Baseball Club based in the southern part of the Blackstone Valley Region of New England. The team primarily plays thier home games at Renaud Field in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. They also play a few of their home games at Tetreault Field in Mendon, Massachusetts. The Spinners are a member of the Central New England Baseball Association (CNEBA) affiliated with the long-standing and nationally recognized National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF).
The CNEBA regular season schedule typically begins on Memorial Day weekend and continues for 8 weeks ending in the 3rd-4th week of July. The team often plays 3-6 games per week with some Doubleheaders being played on weekends. During this time, the team will compete in 28 CNEBA Regular Season games and also compete in non-league exhibition games against other teams from a number of leagues (GDSL, Yawkey League, etc). The CNEBA has also partnered with the Yawkey League sharing its first All-Star Game in 2022. This years All-Star Game vs. the Yawky League All-Stars will be held on Sunday, July 16th @ 1pm at Brandeis Univeristy. The CNEBA playoffs start at the conclusion of the CNEBA Regular Season less than 1 week later.
The Spinners roster will often slightly change from year-to-year, but the majority of the team is built around currently active college players, and 1-2 year graduated college alumni from their respective schools. The team will carry players anywhere from 17-25 years of age with a full 30-man roster (Cap / June 30th). The Spinners look to be the first Expansion Team to bring home a CNEBA League Championship in this most recent Expansion Era (3 new teams and 2 relocation teams). The Spinners look to pride themselves for playing a gritty and hustle style of smart baseball to accomplish this feat.
